• Supporting children with additional needs — The unit aims to support and develop the leadership and management skills of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in their role of leading best practice for children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families.

This will be achieved through a small-scale research project. Learners will understand the role of ethics when undertaking research. The theme selected (which must be agreed with the assessor) will allow learners to reflect on their own practice, use current research to make recommendations for improvements in their own setting, implement these recommendations and report on their findings.
